European Maritime Day: “The Future of our Seas”

The European Maritime Day is the annual meeting point for Europe’s maritime community, with opportunities to network, discuss and forge joint action. The EMODnet Secretariat will be organising a Workshop jointly with Columbus project  which will explore ways to better involve industry in marine data initiatives.

Maritime Spatial Planning, Ecosystem Approach and Supporting Information Systems. (MaPSIS) International Conference

MaPSIS International Conference will bring together professionals, policy & decision makers, researchers and other stakeholders to analyse methodologies, best practices and also to integrate maritime issues within environmental planning using open data Infrastructures. Representatives of the Secretariat and of the Chemistry portal will give talks to show how EMODnet can be a valuable source of data and information for MSP practitioners.

European Geosciences Union General Assembly EGU2017

The EGU General Assembly 2017 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. Two oral presentations and one poster will give account the most recent achievements of EMODnet Bathymetry, EMODnet Physics and the Black Sea Checkpoint.

Committee of the Regions presents ‘Marine Data for the Blue Economy’

The importance of marine data in the development of the ‘blue’ economy at local and regional level was discussed at a workshop organised by the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels on 13 October 2016. SeaTech Week

EMODnet was present at a workshop organised by EuroGOOS in the context of the H2020 project COLUMBUS. The workshop considered the important role of SMEs as intermediary service providers using publicly available marine data resources to create new products and services for the maritime sector. Third Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference

The 3rd Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference promoted entrepreneurship and innovation in the Atlantic area. EMODnet are organizing a workshop “Open Data for Blue Growth in the Atlantic Area.” The workshop will consider progress, challenges and opportunities associated with current efforts to streamline the marine knowledge value chain: from observation and collection of marine and coastal data to information, products and services for intermediate and end-users.
